Okay, so apparently the guy they selected to direct the upcoming new Star Wars movies (which I still find totally unnecessary, mind you) is none other than J.J. Abrams. Okay, I gotta be honest with you here. I’m suddenly more interested in where all of this is going.

Why? Well, if the new Star Wars sequels will contain about as much retconning as the loathesome prequel trilogy, and if Abrams’ version of Star Trek is anything to go by, he’s a guy who knows how to retcon the canon of an entire franchise and actually get away with it. And let’s face it – it can’t possibly get much worse than it did when The Phantom Menace arrived. Maybe we shouldn’t worry. There’s no place to go from here but up.

Abrams, don’t fail us now!
